In hip hop's earliest days, the music only existed in live form, and the music was spread via tapes of parties and shows. Hip hop mixtapes first appeared in the mid-1970s in New York City, featuring artists such as Kool Herc and Afrika Bambaataa. As more tapes became available, they began to be collected and traded by fans. In the late 70's into the early 80's DJs began recording mixtapes out of their homes, referring to them as House Tapes. DJs such as Harold G. (who later became known as Whiz...

When two episodes of the 1977 season of The Scooby-Doo Show entered syndication in 1980, Hanna-Barbera mistakenly stuck prints, foreign dubbing tracks, and video masters from earlier, work-in-progress cuts of the episodes, instead of the completed versions that ran on ABC. These have innumerable animation, editorial, and audio differences from their finished cuts that Warner currently uses for their restored copies. This is the second of these two episodes, "Vampire Bats and Scaredy...

This film examines many features of today's landscapes which cannot be explained by processes at work around them, and explains that observation of the work of modern glaciers establishes that these anomalies could only have been caused by a massive sheet of moving ice. It proposes the hypothesis that glacial ice moved south at least four times in geologic history, and that its shape and size correspond approximately with the distribution of glacial features. This is one in the series of...

On the surface, this film may seem like an average science film about time and space, but like most of films from the Moody Institute of Science, there is an ulterior motive. The films host Irwin Moon had an interest in science as a child and later incorporated that interest into his life as a pastor. He would tour the country giving his Sermons of Science where the marvels of science provide the visible evidence of a Divine plan of creation. His work with GIs during World War II showed him the...

Banned Sci-Fi Channel UFO Special! - James Doohan, Bob Lazar I recorded this from a VHS recorder, and transferred it to DVD which is why I still have it. It may be old and degraded but I have always liked this presentation. I have not watched the Sci-Fi Channel for a while now not being able to afford cable, but as far as I could see they did not publish anything like this afterwards and I got the feeling they were prevented or warned not to do so, of course for national security. This is a digitized version of an in-store reel to reel tape that was played within a Kmart store in May 1988.  Amazingly, Kmart continued to play reel to reels until the late 1980's when cassettes were put into production. This is a genuine Tape-A-Thon product and the recording contains both sides, which are 1.5 hours long each, totaling 3 hours. Recorded in the 3¾ speed and the tape is thin. The tape itself is in rough shape; I have reason to believe that these reels were returned at the...

Considered THE archetypal sensationalized anti-drug movie, but it's really an exploitation film made to capitalize on the hot taboo subject of marijuana use. Like many exploitation films of the time, "Reefer Madness" tried to make a quick buck off of a forbidden subject while skirting the Motion Picture Production Code of 1930. The Code forbade the portrayal of immoral acts like drug use. ( The illegal drug traffic must not be portrayed in such a way as to stimulate curiosity...
